The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Wyoming seeks to fill the position of full-time Judicial (Term) Law Clerk for the Honorable Casey Parker. This 2-year position performs a variety of extensive research and writing on a wide range of issues that arise in federal bankruptcy proceedings.  The successful candidate will coordinate the flow of work in chambers, that includes scheduling and maintaining the Judge’s calendar and required disclosures; substantively reviewing pleadings, preparing bench memos, drafting opinions, and orders on pending matters, as well as performing additional duties which include verifying citations, managing the case docket, and other legal and administrative duties as assigned.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Standing within the upper third of the law school class from a law school on the approved list of either the American Bar Association or the Association of American Law Schools.

Experience on the editorial board of a law review, or law journal of such a school or other publication experience.

Graduation from such a school with an LLM degree; or

Demonstration of proficiency in legal studies, which in the opinion of the judge, is equivalent to one of the above.

The Wyoming Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (WCADVSA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1984 to respond to the needs of domestic violence and sexual assault victims and to provide statewide representation and advocacy for the twenty-four local domestic and sexual violence advocacy programs in Wyoming.  The mission of the WCADVSA is to support and enhance the work of our member programs and to provide leadership on the issues relating to domestic violence and sexual assault.

 

The WCADVSA Legal Project is funded through a grant received from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), Legal Assistance for Victims Grant Program. The Legal Project has been funded by OVW since 1998 in competitive grant cycles.  Two Staff Attorney positions and a Legal Assistant position are funded to complete the grant goals which include providing direct civil legal services on behalf of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking statewide.  This position is located within the WCADVSA’s Legal Project main office in Laramie, WY.

Full-time United States Magistrate Judge Stephanie A Hambrick for the office in Mammoth Hot Springs at Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, is seeking a Term Law Clerk to assist her in her duties as U.S. Magistrate Judge. Nestled just south of the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Mammoth Hot Springs is one of the most unique federal court locations in the country, surrounded by thermal hot springs, hiking trails, and wildlife.

As a member of our litigation team based in Jackson, you will have the opportunity to assist our clients in resolving a broad range of disputes at the local, regional, and national levels while also enjoying the friendly/ small-town environment of our newest office.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

·      2-5 years of experience in civil litigation and/or judicial clerkship(s)

·      Experience analyzing and researching complex legal issues

·      Ability to successfully argue motions

·      Ability to take and defend depositions

·      Solid writing skills

·      Strategic and analytical thinking skills

·      Significant case-handling capability in large-scale civil litigation

·      Ability to multi-task and prioritize is essential

·      Exceptional verbal communication skills

·      Good judgment and adherence to highest of ethical standards

·      Strong academic credentials

·      Juris Doctor from an accredited law school

·      Admitted to practice in Wyoming or ability to be admitted by motion
