Three Tips for Better Billing is a 60-minute CLE webinar that focuses on an attorney’s ethical obligations to the client to maintain accurate, contemporaneous time records which describe billable tasks in sufficient detail to support the reasonableness and necessity of the attorney’s billable work. The webinar covers three tips from the complete Billable Hour guide:
  1. Bill by the Guidelines: This includes both the general ethical guidelines for billing as well as certain elements of specific client billing guidelines.
  2. Bill in Bites, not Blocks: This section is designed to train attorneys to avoid block-billing and generic descriptions of billable work.
  3. Bill all Billable Tasks: This addresses an attorney’s duty to capture all billable tasks as they are performed to ensure time records are contemporaneous, accurate and meet the attorney’s ethical obligations to the client in submitting a bill for legal work.
