Brooks Receives Community Service Award

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Jacob Brooks, an attorney from Buffalo (formerly of Cheyenne) has received the 2015 Community Service Award. Chris Jorgenson, Staff Attorney and Pro Bono Coordinator at Equal Justice Wyoming, presented the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Jackson, Wyoming.

The nomination for the award was submitted by Cheyenne attorney, Nicole Kean.

Brooks was recognized for his volunteer work in the Cheyenne community, specifically with assisting with the legal work for a local church and its preschool. His valuable advice provided the preschool with legal services that they would otherwise not have been able to afford. He was dedicated to performing all of the legal work needed for the church and preschool in his community.

Brooks has been practicing law in Wyoming since 2005. He grew up in Buffalo, and was a 1997 graduate of Buffalo High School. Following high school, Brooks earned a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in English, with a minor in history, from Chadron State College. He then attended the University of Wyoming College of Law where he graduated with honors in 2005. While in law school, Brooks was a comment editor for the Wyoming Law Review, participated in the school’s legal services clinic, and was a teaching assistant for legal writing and appellate advocacy. Prior to joining The Wages Group, Brooks worked with large law firms in Sheridan and Cheyenne, gaining experience in a wide range of practice areas and in handling complex legal matters and transactions. He currently focuses on estate planning, business and corporate law, real estate, and transactional work.
