Dorsch Receives Champion of Justice for Legal Services Award
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Angie Dorsch, Executive Director of Equal Justice Wyoming, has received the Bar’s Champion of Justice for Legal Services Award. Stuart Day, an attorney from Casper and recipient of last year’s award, presented the award last week during the Bar’s Annual Meeting & Judicial Conference in Laramie, Wyoming.
The nomination for the award was submitted by Dona Playton of the University of Wyoming.
Dorsch has served as the Director of Equal Justice Wyoming since 2012. In that capacity she has helped lead in the growth of statewide legal services and pro bono work in Wyoming. She has helped propose, implement and deliver immeasurable results for access to justice in the state. Through her efforts, hundreds and probably thousands, of low income people in Wyoming have received assistance. She has increased access to the legal system through technology, reviewed and recommended changes to legislation, court rules and processes that provide access and reduce barriers that people face when seeking legal relief. She works with the Wyoming Access to Justice Commission and the Equal Justice Wyoming Foundation.
Dorsch’s steadfast work to improve the justice system and promote access to justice has earned her the title “Champion of Justice.”
Angie M. Dorsch is the Executive Director of Equal Justice Wyoming. Angie attended law school at Texas Tech University School of Law where she completed a joint degree program. She was awarded a J.D. with honors and an M.S. in financial planning in December 2004. While working as an attorney, she also received her MBA from Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business in May 2008. Angie practiced law with the firm of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas from 2005 until beginning her employment with the Wyoming Center for Legal Aid in August 2012.
