In light of extraordinarily low oil prices, many lessors and lessees are wondering what their rights may be under their leases and what the process is for pursuing an oil and gas lien. This webinar will discuss key savings clauses and concepts typically contained in oil and gas leases such as force majeure, cessation/continuous production, shut-in provisions, and production in paying quantities. This webinar will also outline the general procedures for perfecting and foreclosing oil and gas liens in Wyoming.
Faculty
Lori McMullen is a Partner in the Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Department in the firm’s Sheridan, WY office. Lori is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and has a broad practice in natural resources, real property, and secured transactions. After graduating from the University of Wyoming College of Law, Lori served as a staff attorney in the Wyoming Legislative Service Office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for two years before entering private practice. Lori was a partner at Lonabaugh and Riggs, LLP before joining Crowley Fleck PLLP in January of 2012.
Jim Mowry is a Partner in the Sheridan, WY office and is co-chair of the firm’s Oil and Gas Practice Group. His practice focuses on due diligence, acquisitions and divestitures, and title work for the oil and gas and energy industries. Jim also represents clients in litigation matters in state and federal courts, and before state administrative agencies including the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the Wyoming Public Service Commission, the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and the North Dakota Industrial Commission. He also enjoys assisting clients with real estate and commercial transactions.
Casey Terrell is an associate in the Sheridan, WY office and practices with the Oil and Gas practice group. Although Casey maintains a broad civil practice, his primary areas of interest include oil and gas regulation, energy litigation, and commercial litigation. Casey graduated from the University of Wyoming after completing a dual-degree program to receive both his MA in Environment and Natural Resources, as well as his JD. While at Wyoming, Casey excelled as an Article Editor for the Wyoming Law Review, a Legal Research Fellow for the University’s Carbon Management Institute, and as a Clarence A. Brimmer and Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholar. Casey currently serves as the President of the Sheridan and Johnson County Bar Association, a Trustee of the Wyoming Natural Resource Foundation, and class co-chair for the Leadership Sheridan County program.
Lindsay Woznick is Senior Counsel in the firm’s Cheyenne, WY office. Prior to joining Crowley Fleck, PLLP, Lindsay was a partner at the Cheyenne firm of Hirst Applegate, LLP. Her practice focuses on Oil & Gas, Real Estate, Trusts & Estates, Business Law and Creditor’s Rights. Lindsay represents oil and gas producers in a wide variety of matters including, large real estate transactions, oil and gas liens, complex oil and gas royalty and lease litigation, and land use matters. Lindsay also represents ranchers and landowners in negotiating oil and gas leases, surface use agreements and easements with both operators and utility companies. Lindsay was a presenter the 2017 Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Special Institute on Oil & Gas Agreements: Surface Use in the 21st Century, May 18, 2017 in Westminster, Colorado, and the 2018 Wyoming State Bar Convention on Surface Use Agreements. She also co-authored “Addressing Key Items in Surface Use Agreements,” Oil & Gas Agreements: Surface Use in the 21st Century 8-1 (Rocky Mt. Min. L. Fdn. 2017).
Alicia Kisling is a Partner in the firm’s Sheridan, WY office and is a member of the Oil & Gas and Trusts and Estates practice groups. Alicia assists energy clients and operators in a wide range of oil and gas matters, including title examinations, due diligence review, acquisitions and divestitures, and title curative matters. Additionally, she has a broad range of experience in real estate matters and routinely assists clients with purchase and sale transactions and lease negotiations. Alicia’s estate planning practice focuses on helping clients with all of their estate planning needs, from simple wills to complex trusts, with a particular emphasis on assisting farmers and ranchers navigate the unique challenges they face in planning for the future.
