Cheyenne Lawyer Receives American Bar Association Award

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that Blake A. Klinkner, an attorney from Cheyenne, has received the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s Star of the Quarter Award. Lacy Durham, Chair of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, presented the award at the ABA YLD 2015 Fall Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, last month.
Klinkner, who is a past President of the Wyoming State Bar Young Lawyers Section, currently serves as the District Representative for Wyoming and Colorado to the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division.
Klinkner was recognized for his service to the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. In particular, he was recognized for his volunteer efforts with the Young Lawyers Division’s national public service project, World Wise Web: Protecting Our Youth From Internet Predators, which has included working on model legislation and presenting to the Division on Constitutional challenges to legislation pertaining to technology-based crimes.
Klinkner was also recognized for overseeing the implementation of Disaster Legal Services in Wyoming, which is a collaborative effort involving the Wyoming State Bar and its Young Lawyers Section, Legal Aid of Wyoming, Inc., Equal Justice Wyoming, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Disaster Legal Services was implemented earlier this year to provide free legal assistance to Wyoming flood victims in the declared disaster areas of Johnson County and Niobrara County.
Klinkner is an Associate with the Cheyenne office of Crowley Fleck PLLP. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his undergraduate degrees, and later earned a Masters in Political Science from Northern Illinois University. After graduate school, he worked as an Environmental Consultant in Chicago, consulting to a variety of public and private sector clients involved in environmental and mass tort litigation. He later attended the University of Utah College of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Utah Environmental Law Review and worked as State Litigation Coordinator for the Bureau of Land Management. Following graduation in 2012, he served a two-year judicial clerkship.
Klinkner is the author of the “Tech Tips” column which appears in each edition of the Wyoming Lawyer, and a frequent continuing legal education speaker.
