SILVA ELECTED PRESIDENT-ELECT OF WYOMING STATE BAR
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Bar is pleased to announce that P. Craig Silva, an attorney from Casper, Wyoming, has been elected President-Elect of its organization and will serve as President in 2025-2026. Silva had previously served four years as the Seventh Judicial District Commissioner
Silva succeeds Erin E. Weisman of Jackson, Wyoming, who now serves as a Circuit Court judge for the Ninth Judicial District.
Silva grew up in Casper, Wyoming. He attended Kelly Walsh High School graduating in 1987 and Casper College. He graduated from the University of Wyoming Casper College in 1992 and graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1996. He was both Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Theta Kappa.
Upon graduation, Silva clerked for Judge Ryckman in the Third Judicial District in Rock Springs. From there, he went to the Public Defender’s Office in Casper, and then was an Assistant District Attorney for the Seventh Judicial District in Casper, Wyoming. In 2000, he was hired as an Associate at Williams, Porter, Day and Neville, P.C. He was made a shareholder shortly thereafter and remained at the firm until 2023 (23 years). He then took a position in Casper as an Assistant Federal Public Defender for the District of Colorado and Wyoming.
Silva has taught as an adjunct professor at Casper College. He has also taught at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in Douglas, Wyoming. He was the Natrona County Bar President, served on the Judicial Nominating Commission, and most recently was the Bar Commissioner for Natrona County. He was one of the founders of the legal aid clinic at Casper College for which he won the Pro Bono Award and was recognized nationally. He has been published in the Casper Star Tribune, Findings of Fact, and the Wyoming Lawyer. He is licensed to practice in all Court’s in Wyoming, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
He is currently a Board Member of the Wyoming Trial Lawyer’s Association.
Silva will serve next as President of the Wyoming State Bar. He will serve in that capacity from September 2025 – September 2026.
